Who Is Eligible for Medicare?

Most U.S. citizens over 65 and younger people with certain disabilities, such as ALS or ESRD, are eligible.

What Are Medicare Advantage Plans?

These are offered by private companies and include Parts A, B, and, usually, Part D. It’s also known as Part C.

When Is the Medicare Enrollment Period?

Generally, it's the first 6 months from your Part B effective date, or when you decide to leave your employer group coverage. Beyond that, the Open Enrollment Period starts in mid-October and runs until early December, for a January 1st effective date the following year. You may be able to join a plan at any time if you are diagnosed with Chronic COPD, Diabetes, or a Cardiovascular Condition.

Is Medicare Different Than Medicaid?

Yes, Medicare is a federal program for people age 65 and older. Medicaid is a joint federal and state program assisting certain low-income people.
